Now established as the most diverse, must-see event of the London Design Festival, Tent London continues to push the boundaries, with ever-more innovative and exciting exhibits from the international design community.
From taxidermy and bronze-founding to upholstery and embroidery, many of this year's exhibitors have combined traditional techniques with new technologies to create striking, never-been-seen-before designs. Among the new-comers offering furniture, lighting and home accessories, are Alex Randall, Sessio, The Foundry, Curiousa & Curiousa, A&Z Designs, And Design, Orchard Studio, Sara Leonor, and 20age.
Returning to Tent with a raft of new products and collections are Jung Myung Taek, Zoe Murphy, Ercol, groupDesign, Ikuko Iwamota, Jessica Light, Miller Goodman, Mini Moderns and Quirico.
British Design Embassy
Tent London is delighted to be hosting one of three British Design Embassies - a temporary business club and lounge set up for the exclusive use of the world's design community during the London Design Festival. The Embassy reflects London's position as the creative capital of the world and gateway to the UK's world-class creative industries, bringing together a wide array of people, press and businesses at the heart of the UK's largest annual design event. The Embassy welcomes membership from international visitors to the London Design Festival and from across the UK Design industry, to foster partnerships and trade. TENT LONDON 2010 FEATURES:
Lab Craft: Digital adventures in contemporary craft is a new Crafts Council touring exhibition that previews at Tent London before launching at the Turnpike Gallery in Leigh, Greater Manchester, from 30 Oct to 18 Dec 2010. Lab Craft features 26 makers who combine the hand, mind and eye, technical mastery of tools and material and aesthetic sensibility with cutting-edge digital technologies such as rapid prototyping, laser cutting, laser scanning and digital printing. The exhibition is curated by design commentator Max Fraser and designed by maker Tomoko Azumi and features exciting new developments in textiles, ceramics, furniture, jewellery, glass, lighting and much more.
Tent Digital has been supported by UK Trade & Investment and has grown to over 800 sqm of digital installations in the areas of Interaction Design and Augmented Reality. Leading exponents in these fields are showing visitors a glimpse of the future. The larger venue provides more space for installations to breath and accommodates a talks programme.
Love and Money
50 Years of Creative Britain showcases the world-leading products and services of the UK's creative industries. From advertising to architecture, fashion to film, and performing arts to publishing, the originality and professionalism of UK creativity inspires the world.
Tent Selects showcases the work of the next generation of world class designers - those who will go on to create those 'must have' items and future classics. The designers selected to take part by the Tent Team have been given the unique opportunity to present their work free of charge within a curated area. The aim is to provide emerging design talent with experience, access to industry, media contacts and the encouragement of professional practice. The Design Museum presents a retrospective exhibition of Kingston University's world renowned alumni alongside a selection of work from 150 current MA graduates from the diverse worlds of design, photography, fashion, film and television and fine-art.
In Dray Walk Gallery, the Danish Design Centre invite visitors to explore sustainable design in a 'hands-on' way through taste, touch, scent and bicycle rides with Ross Lovegrove. Vonsung Café-bar Award-winning design agency, Vonsung, have been commissioned by Tent London to provide the pop up café-bar pavilion
using materials and products from Bolon, Valchromat®, and Modus.
